Citrine is one of November's birthstones and is a beautiful yellow stone. It is a popular less expensive alternative to the much more expensive yellow sapphire or yellow diamond. To create wondeful multi-colored jwelry, it is often combined with other stones such as: peridot, amethyst, and garnet.

Citrine can be easily scratched. Citrine often permenantly changes color if left in the sunlight for several hours.

Most citrine on the market is heat treated amethyst.
